KKN Gurugram Desk | Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief  recently addressed the media, emphasizing the long-standing personal relationship between his family and Lalu Prasad Yadav’s. However, he made it unequivocally clear that this personal rapport does not translate into a political alliance.

“My father Ram Vilas Paswan and Lalu Prasad Yadav shared mutual respect and cooperation. They were peers in their political journey,” said Chirag during a press interaction.

While reporters pressed for comments on a possible  alliance with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) led by Lalu Prasad and his son , Chirag distanced himself from such speculations.

Political Relationship Is Separate from Personal Bond: Chirag

Chirag strongly drew a line between personal respect and political ideology.

“Do not measure personal relationships with the yardstick of political alliances. Lalu and Tejashwi stand ideologically at the opposite end. Coming together on the same platform is not possible,” he asserted.

He also extended congratulatory wishes to Tejashwi Yadav on the birth of his son, showing that despite political differences, civil courtesy remains intact.

Call for Special Status to Bihar: Chirag Targets the Centre

Shifting the focus from alliances, Chirag made a pointed demand to the Central , including Prime  Narendra Modi, to grant Bihar special category status.

“The development of Bihar cannot progress at full pace unless it receives special state status. I urge the central government and our allies in the NDA to take this seriously,” he stated.

This call aligns with long-standing demands from various Bihar-based parties, including both ruling and opposition factions.

Analysis: Why Chirag’s Statement Matters

1. NDA Dynamics Ahead of 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections

Chirag Paswan is considered a key youth face of the NDA in Bihar, especially after the demise of Ram Vilas Paswan. His statements carry weight, and his clear refusal to align with RJD suggests that LJP(R) will stick with BJP, despite past strains within the alliance.

2. Attempt to Carve an Independent Identity

While maintaining ties with the NDA, Chirag has repeatedly tried to position himself as a “Bihar First, Bihari First” leader. His insistence on special category status may help him resonate with young and aspirational voters.

3. Personal vs Political Narrative

The Indian political landscape is often guided by personal equations, especially in states like Bihar. Chirag’s articulation that personal goodwill should not be confused with political partnership is a signal to both voters and coalition partners.
